who's jen wolfe anyway? ew.
I'm Jen: a Coast Guard spouse, homeschooling mom to 2 amazing girls and level 13 Swiftie, currently living in New Orleans. Born + raised in Connecticut, I have a soft spot for all things Gilmore Girls. I love working out, cold plunging, coffee & Costco and I'm usually barefoot (except at your wedding - that would be weird).
My goal is to make your wedding or portrait session feel easy and fun. I love cheesy prompts and laughing alongside you.
common questions
what is documentary(ish)?
I photograph for motion + emotion always. Whether it's a family portrait session or your couples portraits on your wedding day, you will find me putting you into a "pose" and then prompting you to interact. The magic doesn't happen in the pose, it happens in the aftermath of whatever ridiculous thing I prompt you with. You won't find a ton of direction from me unless it's necessary (lookin' at you, wedding day family formals!) and the only rule is: stay interacting!
Simply put: documentary(ish) is a couple of the obligatory look + smile photos when appropriate AND the candid moments as much as possible.
do you offer mini sessions?
Yes! I offer 1-2 days of mini sessions in the New Orleans area every spring and fall. If there are current mini sessions open, you can find more info under "Lifestyle" at the top of the page.
do you work with second photographers?
Short answer: yes!
Long answer: Your wedding will have its own set of unique scenarios and needs. Sometimes I need help for a couple of hours, sometimes all day and sometimes not at all! During our initial phone call, we can chat about the details of your day to determine if a second photographer is necessary and what additional fee that will be.
what do we wear to our portrait session?
When you book - either a family session or an engagement session - you'll receive a style guide with suggestions and tips. You can always email or text me outfits pictures or questions!
how do Connecticut weddings work if you don't live here?
A travel fee equal to the cost of my flights applies to all Connecticut weddings to cover the cost of travel. My entire family still lives along the Connecticut shoreline, so lodging is covered - you just need to get me there! I generally fly into Tweed (HVN) via Avelo to keep the cost of travel low. The average cost for a CT travel fee is ~$250.
do you travel outside of Louisiana/Connecticut?
Sure! A travel fee equal to the cost of my flights + lodging will apply to all weddings. That fee may vary depending on your location. Send an email to hello@jenwolfephotography.com and let's talk!
